JUXY is the place for designers-to-be
A place to start. A community to connect. A platform to grow.
I created JUXY as a means to give students of design a community to share, learn, and collaborate with each other as designers, and most importantly to grow their new sense of self as a designer. Knowledge will continue to grow, careers to evolve, but the beginning is marked by choosing to believe.
It was easy enough to meet the designers for whom I'd be solving the dilemma of transformation. I spoke to fellow students about their ongoing journeys from day one onwards. In sharing with them that I only became a designer once I engaged with others as a designer in conversation and collaboration, I found that there were many who were "a priori" conscious of the same; others were surprised that upon reflection this was indeed true. It was a matter of optimizing their time spent learning and working on design and decreasing the gap between them and the design community.
So how do we optimize the user's time and energy and close the design community gap?
JUXY is news, knowledge, collaboration, and optimization
The pineapple doubles as a logo and as one of JUXY's finest features, a skeuomorphic timer. Conceptually borrowing from the Pomodoro Technique, it is a means of optimizing available time by dedicating a set amount of it towards one goal at a time under the pressure of a deadline. My favorite feature of JUXY is the brainstorming tool. A user states a specific design problem or even a context question meant to discover a problem. Users can ask, answer, and follow the progress. The potential exists to collect vast and diverse experiences and knowledge and spur innovative ideation.
